Green Hills Software and Clarity Technologies Team to Provide the Latest in Voice Capture Solutions

Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS Now Available with Clarity Technologies CVC® Noise and Echo Suppression Offerings

DETROIT, MICHIGAN—October 18, 2004
— Green Hills Software, the leader in royalty free real-time operating systems and software development tools, and Clarity Technologies Inc., the leading independent provider of echo cancellation and noise reduction technology, today announced that Clarity’s next generation Clear Voice Capture (CVC) technology is now available for use with the INTEGRITY real-time operating system (RTOS) and velOSity microkernel from Green Hills Software.

For hands free communications, Clarity’s CVC noise and echo suppression software suite provides natural sounding voice quality in high noise environments such as the continually growing in-car environments.

According to recent Gartner research, by 2012, telematics services will be accessible in more than half of all new vehicle models - of which there are upwards of 50 million produced each year, worldwide. Additionally, the increasing regulatory pressure requiring hands-free in cars will further fuel the industry. With all of this growth, the industry still faces one major, indisputable hurdle - the presence of background noise from traffic, wind, engine, radio, rain and passengers.

“Adding the availability of Clarity’s CVC technology to the existing technology ecosystem of our INTEGRITY product line is critical for enabling our automotive customers with the best-in-class solutions for their in-car electronic products,” said Dan Mender, director of business development for INTEGRITY, Green Hills Software. “Clarity’s technologies, expertise, focus and services, deliver a superior solution for improving the audio quality and performance of voice-based communications, required in today’s automotive designs.“

“Driven by rapid rate of technology advancement and customer demand, leaders in the automotive industry are turning to Clarity's CVC® technology to deliver improved audio quality and performance,” said Norman Torrey, vice president of Clarity’s strategic alliances. “Clarity is excited about expanding its offering to be available for the reliable, scalable and royalty-free INTEGRITY RTOS and velOSity microkernel. The combination is a perfect choice for addressing the demanding requirements of the noisy automobile environments.”

The INTEGRITY RTOS, certified to POSIX 1003.1 System Interfaces, provides embedded applications with total reliability and absolute security. The INTEGRITY RTOS is securely partitioned, guaranteeing each task the resources it needs to run correctly along with fully protecting the operating system and user tasks from errant and malicious code, including denial of service attacks, hackers, worms and Trojan horses.

The INTEGRITY RTOS is built on Green Hills Software’s small and fast velOSity microkernel. Both products share a rich set of device drivers, Board Support Packages and middleware, including, CD-block decoding, Bluetooth, USB, wireless Ethernet, navigation and graphics. The ability to migrate seamlessly between the velOSity microkernel and the INTEGRITY RTOS provides embedded software developers with unprecedented scalability.
