Green Hills Software Adds MOST Support to the INTEGRITY Real-Time Operating System

Partnership to Leverage OASIS' MOST Networking Technology for Rapid In-Car Infotainment System Development

SANTA BARBARA, CA-January 26, 2004— Green Hills Software, Inc., the world-wide market leader in royalty-free real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded software development tools, and OASIS SiliconSystems AG today announced a partnership that will enable Green Hills Software to integrate and deliver MOST® (Media Oriented Systems Transport) networking technology with in-car telematics reference platforms based on the INTEGRITY RTOS.

OASIS MOST is a multimedia fiber-optic network optimized for automotive applications. MOST defines the protocol, hardware and software layers necessary to allow for very efficient and low-cost transport of control, real-time and packet data. The combination of MOST and the INTEGRITY RTOS gives automotive manufacturers the ability to rapidly prototype and develop a broad range of in-car telematics applications.

"Our in-car electronic system customers are focused on reducing their time to market and cost to deploy," said Herbert Hetzel, president and chief executive officer of OASIS SiliconSystems and administrator of MOST Cooperation. "Green Hills Software's integration and support for our MOST offering is a key solution to meeting these challenges."

"The OASIS MOST technology is a welcome addition to our existing support for in-car infotainment solutions," said Dan Mender, INTEGRITY's director of business development. "The seamless integration with our INTEGRITY RTOS and associated reference hardware reduces both development and deployment costs associated with these cost-sensitive systems."

INTEGRITY is a royalty-free RTOS optimized for applications that require high reliability, low cost, and real-time responsiveness. INTEGRITY takes advantage of a microprocessor's memory-protection facilities to build a firewall between the operating system and application tasks in order to prevent errant or malicious tasks from corrupting the system as a whole. This makes INTEGRITY ideal for open, distributed applications such as MOST-enabled automobiles.

Availability

Availability of MOST integrated with INTEGRITY is expected in early 2004. The integration will initially be available for the Total5200 telematics reference system from Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector, which is based on the MPC5200 PowerPC processor.

About MOST

MOST has emerged as the automotive industry's high-speed digital networking standard. It serves as the backbone technology of in-car infotainment systems. The use of the MOST networking technology permits carmakers and suppliers to easily add a host of multimedia devices such as CD players, AM/FM radios, navigation systems, cell phones and in-car PC's as modular functions in the automotive environment, while meeting the specific requirements of any vehicle.

About the MOST Cooperation

The concept for the MOST Cooperation began as an informal cooperative effort in 1997. Since the Cooperation was founded in 1998, twenty international car manufacturers and more than fifty key component suppliers are now working with MOST technology and contributing toward its innovation. Through the MOST Cooperation, all members combine their expertise and ambitious efforts to establish and refine a common standard for today's and tomorrow's needs of automotive multimedia networking.
