Green Hills Software Announces Compliance With Latest ARINC-653-2 Part 1 Standard for the INTEGRITY-178B RTOS

Systems & Software Technology Conference (SSTC), Salt Lake City, UT —May 1, 2006—Green Hills Software, Inc., the market leader in safe and secure operating systems, today announced that its INTEGRITY-178B real-time operating system (RTOS) now complies with the March 2006 update of the ARINC-653 standard designated as “ARINC Specification 653P1-2". The compliance with the latest ARINC-653 standard provides our customers with the most current capabilities and allows for a level of portability not found elsewhere in the RTOS industry.

Green Hills' safety experts have been participants in the Aeronautical Radio, Inc. (ARINC) Application/Executive (APEX) Working Group since its inception for the revision process. This process started in 2002. This group defines the standard for a general-purpose APEX software interface between the operating system of an avionics computer and the application software. The interface requirements between the application software and operating system services are defined in a manner that enables the application software to control the scheduling, communication and status of internal processing elements. This is designated as the ARINC-653 standard most recently updated to version 653P1-2.

Green Hills’ APEX participation has allowed us to stay current with this and other safety related standards. Our experts participated in the evolution of this standard and allowed us to almost immediately support this latest version in our INTEGRITY-178B RTOS.

"Green Hills Software is proud of our experienced safety experts who enable us to take the lead in supporting evolving safety and avionics standards, such as ARINC-653,” commented Dan O’Dowd, founder and chief executive officer of Green Hills Software.

Our INTEGRITY-178B operating system has now been designed into almost every major next-generation commercial and military aircraft, including the Boeing 787, Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A380, BAE Systems Hawk Trainer, Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, F/A-22 Raptor, Eurofighter Typhoon, Airbus A400M military transport, Boeing X-45C Joint Unmanned Combat Air Systems and Sikorsky S-92 helicopter. INTEGRITY-178B is also being used in upgrades of the B-52, B-1B, C-17 and F-16.
