Green Hills Software to Present and Exhibit at Embedded Systems Conference Silicon Valley 2010

SANTA BARBARA, CA—April 21, 2010 — Green Hills Software, Inc., the largest independent vendor of embedded software solutions, will exhibit, present and demonstrate its newest software advances next week at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose, California, booth #1510.

Green Hills Software will present:

How to Choose a Multicore Processor for Embedded Networking Devices
When: Monday (April 26, 2010) 1:00pm — 5:00pm (half-day tutorial)
Where: San Jose Convention Center, room J4, track: Microprocessors/Microcontrollers/DSPs
Who: David Kleidermacher, Chief Technology Officer, Green Hills Software
Synopsis: Selecting the optimal microprocessor for a design is a skill that straddles art and science and befuddles many. Designers and managers are faced with an almost limitless number of technical and financial comparison points between devices. The difficulty is exacerbated by emerging technologies such as multicore, virtualization, and a myriad of on-chip co-processors, accelerators, and peripherals. This tutorial will provide in-depth, unbiased comparisons between the latest multicore processors across all the major architectures (ARM, Intel, MIPS, and Power) from a variety of leading chip vendors, with a focus on embedded networking applications. The tutorial will also include case studies, demonstrating how seasoned veterans have made similar decisions on actual projects.

Insightful Debugging or Disastrous Delusions (ME770) – a Panel Discussion
When: Wednesday (April 28, 2010) 4:45 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Where: at the ESC co-located Multi-Core Expo
Moderator: David Kleidermacher, Chief Technology Officer, Green Hills Software
Panel: Tom Dickens, Assoc. Technical Fellow, Boeing
Dominique Toupin, Developer Tool Manager, Ericsson
Bharat Mota, Director of Engineering, Software Products Division, Freescale
Rajan Goyal, Distinguished Engineer, Multicore Virtualization, Cavium Networks
Synopsis: This panel explores the challenges of multicore debugging from the perspective of veteran embedded multicore software developers. Attendees will learn which tools really make a difference, which ones are not worth their time and money, and where the vendor market must focus its improvements. Discussed will be the role of trace, virtual prototypes, JTAG, compiler enhancements, homogeneous vs. heterogeneous systems, programming language choice, and more.

Green Hills Software will offer, in booth #1510, a wide range of interesting presentations and demonstrations, including:

  • Center Stage:
The Green Hills center stage presentation focuses on techniques for developers to get the most out of the MULTI source code debugger and associated tools. The demonstration covers advanced break point techniques and scenarios for using event analysis, profiling, and advanced trace-based tools. Attendees will also learn how utilizing these techniques and applying “the right tool for the job” can maximize developer efficiency and productivity.

  • Virtualization and Wi-Fi Kiosk:
Green Hills Software will showcase INTEGRITY® Secure Virtualization running on the Texas Instruments OMAP3530 processor. A Linux guest operating system and various applications will be securely hosted on the INTEGRITY RTOS alongside other real-time critical native INTEGRITY applications. Safe and secure separation between the Linux kernel and applications will be demonstrated through an attack on the Linux kernel that is isolated and contained within the virtual machine, while the native INTEGRITY application continues reliable operation. This demonstration will also include a new Wi-Fi integration via the Silex Technology SX-SDCAG 802.11a/b/g radio/baseband SDIO card and with an Atheros AR6002 ROCm Chip.

  • Multicore Kiosk:
The Green Hills INTEGRITY RTOS and MULTI integrated development environment (IDE) will be showcased on the multicore Freescale QorIQ™ P2020 processor. Multicore visibility and run control will be demonstrated through various tools in the IDE including the debugger, event analyzer, and profiling tools. The INTEGRITY RTOS will be demonstrated executing in both symmetric and asymmetric multiprocessing modes (AMP and SMP).

  • Advanced Debugging Kiosk:
Green Hills Software will demonstrate complete embedded development solutions for Intel’s newest dual-core Atom processors, the Intel® Atom™ Processor D510. The Green Hills offering for Atom includes the Green Hills Probe for low level processor run control; the MULTI integrated development environment for advanced debugging, profiling, and analysis; and the INTEGRITY real-time operating system for building the most secure and reliable embedded multicore applications.
