Green Hills Software and RADVISION Partner to Secure IP Voice and Video Communications in Next-Generation Mobile and Fixed Networks

Integrated Solution Addresses Challenges of Securing IP Content

RadvisionEMBEDDED SYSTEMS CONFERENCE, SAN JOSE, CA—MARCH 31, 2009—Green Hills Software, Inc., the world leader in safe and secure real time operating systems (RTOS) and advanced routing/switching software, and RADVISON, the leading provider of products and technologies for unified visual communications over IP and 3G networks, today announced the availability of integrated solutions that will enable secure, next-generation fixed and mobile IP content delivery and management. By providing support for the RADVISION SIP protocol development suite on the Green Hills Platform for Secure Networking, joint customers using this combination will save valuable time and development costs. Concurrently, they will also benefit from military-grade security of content delivery through access devices, IP phones, gateways, SIP media servers, video/voice messaging, and conference bridges.

"VoIP has opened up a wide range of new connectivity and communication services and access options for users, but it also increased exposure to a host of security vulnerabilities exploited by criminal hackers," said Anatoli Levine, director, product management, Technology Business Unit, RADVISION. "By making our SIP developer suite available on the Green Hills INTEGRITY® real-time operating system and networking products, developers mitigate device security exposure found when running on other non-secure platforms."

Convergence of voice and data is feeding the widespread adoption and deployment of VoIP-based devices, but these devices are vulnerable to attacks that plague traditional IP networks. Attack exposures fall into two categories; threats to the network (fraudulent use of services, theft of services, and DoS attacks) and threats to the end users (identity theft, eavesdropping, capture and replay, VoIP-based phishing and SPAM).

"Traditional network security countermeasures for VoIP devices are hampered by the complexity of the VoIP signaling protocols and the stringent service requirements demanded by voice communications," said Dan Mender, vice president, business development, Green Hills Software. "Through this partnership with RADVISION, we provide customers an integrated software solution that secures confidential content from malicious attacks and unwanted access by relying on the industry’s most trusted real-time operating system – INTEGRITY – and its award winning security architecture."

RADVISION’s industry leading SIP Developer Suite is a powerful and highly versatile set of tools to dramatically accelerate fixed and mobile network element development. It includes a test suite that enables developers to combine the necessary components to create a perfect development environment for virtually every device's specific needs. Through the joint partnership, RADVISION’s SIP Developer Suite will be integrated, tested and available on the Green Hills Platform for Secure Networking. This platform is based on the industry’s most secure operating system, INTEGRITY, and supports the security policies and foundational architecture to thwart the wide range of attacks inherent to IP-based services while guaranteeing the required service quality.
