VoiceBox Technologies Selects Green Hills Software for Development of First Voice-Enabled XM Satellite Radio Platform

Companies Demonstrate Integrated Technology at Embedded Systems Conference and SAE World Congress Conference

SAE World Congress, Detroit, MI and Embedded Systems Conference, San Jose, CA —April 3, 2006— VoiceBox® Technologies Inc., the innovator in conversational voice search and control technologies, and Green Hills Software Inc., the leader in real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device software optimization (DSO), announced today that VoiceBox has selected the Green Hills Software INTEGRITY operating system as the RTOS for its voice-enabled XM Satellite Radio reference platform for automotive OEMs and aftermarket. The companies will collaborate to develop the first voice search application for the nation’s leading satellite radio service, enabling drivers to simply and conversationally ask their XM Satellite Radio to find and retrieve content from XM’s more than 170 digital entertainment channels of commercial-free music and premier sports, news, traffic, talk radio and entertainment.

VoiceBox and Green Hills Software will demonstrate its integrated technology for automotive systems at the SAE 2006 World Congress at the Green Hills booth (No. 2015) at the Cobo Center in Detroit, April 3 through 6, 2006. The companies will also demonstrate the technology at the Embedded Systems Conference at the Green Hills booth (No. 820) at the McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, April 4 through 6, 2006.

“After careful consideration, it became clear that Green Hills Software’s INTEGRITY operating system was the right choice for creation of the first voice-enabled XM Satellite Radio reference platform,” said Tom Freeman, co-founder and senior vice president of marketing at VoiceBox Technologies. “INTEGRITY’s reliability and high-performance capabilities combined with VoiceBox’s intelligent voice search platform that identifies user intention and context will enable leading content providers like XM to rapidly and effectively enhance the mobile technology experience for consumers through conversational voice applications.”

”Green Hills is pleased that VoiceBox selected our INTEGRITY operating system and development tools solution for the industry’s first-of-its-kind XM Satellite Radio reference design,” said Dan Mender, director of business development at Green Hills Software. “INTEGRITY’s POSIX conformance, reliable architecture and advanced MULTI development tools helped VoiceBox save a considerable amount of time addressing difficult-to-find bugs along with reducing precious development time and per-unit cost.”

Green Hills Software’s advanced POSIX-conformant royalty-free INTEGRITY real-time operating system has been selected for use in a number of next-generation digital infotainment platforms that integrate a variety of functions — including audio playback and compression/encoding, video, navigation, wireless networking, telematics, and speech synthesis and recognition — into a single unit. INTEGRITY’s continued market share growth in the automotive space is due to its advanced technological design, which incorporates memory protection, guaranteed resource availability, field upgradeability and optimal real-time response. INTEGRITY’s strict adherence to resource partitioning prevents unforeseen interactions between software components such as memory corruptions, faults and denial of service problems. The MULTI debugger and advanced INTEGRITY tools enable customers to uncover and fix hard-to-find bugs very early in the development process. All this makes INTEGRITY-based software products the ideal choice for next-generation device development for automotive suppliers and OEMs.

VoiceBox and Green Hills Software’s collaboration will leverage integral technologies within VoiceBox’s Navigator Platform™, which enables breakthrough conversational control of media and navigation of digital content from any mobile device and from any IP network. The platform’s speech-recognition algorithms are designed to determine the context and intent from conversational speech, enabling consumers to speak in free-form language to find what they want, when they want it, anytime, anywhere. VoiceBox’s Navigator Platform runs on various embedded, desktop and server systems for applications such as music and media, navigation and driving directions, directory and hands-free dialing, and control over digital devices.

About VoiceBox Technologies

VoiceBox Technologies offers the world's first conversational voice search platform, called the VoiceBox Navigator Platform, enabling breakthrough conversational search and navigation of digital content from any mobile device and from any IP network or digital broadcast. A key differentiator for VoiceBox's Navigator Platform is that it consistently achieves a remarkable level of task completion searching across multiple content domains through its Knowledge Enhanced Search and Speech Recognition (KESSR) algorithms, which determine the context and intention behind the words spoken by the user. Intelligent queries and searches are then dynamically executed by a voice search engine based on such context and user intent. The VoiceBox Navigator Platform runs on various embedded, desktop and server systems for applications such as music and media, navigation and driving directions, directory and hands-free dialing, and control over digital devices.

VoiceBox, headquartered in Bellevue, Wash., develops and sells rich conversational language and voice search applications for the automotive, digital home, mobile phone and VOIP markets. More information is available through the Web site found at http://www.voicebox.com.
