The availability of InterNiche's communications products for the INTEGRITY and ThreadX RTOSes makes it easy for designers to add Internet connectivity to a wide range of mission-critical and deeply embedded systems.

INTEGRITY and ThreadX provide a run-time platform for InterNiche's full line of embedded Internet protocols, including the TCP/IP protocol stack, WebPort web server, and NicheView world wide web browser. INTEGRITY and ThreadX also support InterNiche's POP3 email server (NichePOP3), TELNET, DHCP and FTP servers, routing protocols (NATrouter and PPP) and SNMP (v1 and v3) network management software.

NicheView is a deeply embedded World Wide Web browser. Occupying just 30 Kbytes of program memory, NicheView is ideal for products such as hand held PDAs, cellular phones, and set-top boxes that require a thin client with a full user interface. NicheView provides a generic interface for input events (such as keystrokes, clicks, etc.) and output streams that pass text blocks, images and other content to device drivers. NicheView supports Frames, Animated GIF support, color, JPEG files, Tables and Forms.

WebPort is an embedded web server that allows an embedded device to be configured and monitored by end users from any World Wide Web browser. The WebPort server builds on standard Web server features such as CGI and SSI, optimizing them for embedded environments with scarce resources (such as the lack of a native file system, limited ROM/RAM memory, and limited or absent support for a "shell", which is normally used to execute CGI requests). All of the WebPort GUI's graphics, controls, and text are embedded in the target device's firmware. WebPort also includes an Email Alerter, which provides user notification of a predetermined condition, which enables WebPort to act in a manner similar to SNMP.

INTEGRITY is a ROMable, flashable, high-availability, fault-tolerant RTOS designed for mission-critical applications requiring memory protection and secure operation. Tightly integrated with the MULTI IDE, INTEGRITY employs a pre-emptive, real-time, priority-based multitasking scheduler optimized for fast deterministic response. INTEGRITY features advanced memory protection capabilities, dynamic download, task- and system-level debug, optional POSIX support, and extensive embedded internet and telephony protocol support.

ThreadX, also integrated with the MULTI IDE, is the industry's most technically advanced real-time multitasking solution for deeply embedded applications. Combining a picokernel design with fast timers and a high-speed preemption-threshold mechanism, ThreadX features a context switching time of less than two microseconds on a 40-MHz PowerPC 860 processor.
