Wind River Systems today announced the availability of its VxWorks® real-time embedded
operating system for Microsoft Windows®. Previously available only
to UNIX workstation users, the new VxWorks for Windows lets developers
use PCs to create embedded applications.
Wind River entered into a VAR license agreement with Green Hills
Software, headquartered in Santa Barbara, Calif., to obtain the industry
leading, globally optimizing Green Hills C and C++ compilers and
MULTI® program development environment needed to support VxWorks in
the PC environment. Hosted on Microsoft Windows, MULTI® includes
an integrated application builder, source code control system, editor,
source level debugger, graphical browser, execution profiler and
memory leak detector. "The easy to use interface of the Green Hills
tools makes VxWorks an especially strong offering for the Windows
market, where users are accustomed to a robust graphical environment,"
